How do I fill my Rock Candle?
To fill your rock candle, carefully remove the glass wick holder and use the provided funnel. Pour your high-quality lamp oil into the reservoir until it is about 3/4 full. Replace the wick holder and allow a few minutes for the wick to soak before lighting.
My candle flame is too high.
A high flame is usually caused by having too much wick exposed. Extinguish the flame and let the wick holder cool. Adjust the wick so that it is no more than 1/8 to 1/4 inch above the top of the holder. This will provide a steady, safe flame.
Where can I purchase lamp oil?
You can purchase high-quality clear paraffin lamp oil at most hardware stores, craft shops, or through specialized online retailers. We recommend using ultra-pure paraffin for the cleanest burn.
How do I put out my Rock Candle?
The safest way to extinguish your candle is by using a candle snuffer. If one is not available, you can gently blow out the flame. Never use water to extinguish an oil lamp.
Will my Rock Candle get hot or damage surfaces?
The rock itself will stay warm to the touch but should not get dangerously hot. However, we always recommend placing your candle on a heat-resistant surface or using a coaster to protect fine furniture from potential oil spills or heat transfer.
Do I need to trim or replace my wick?
Fiberglass wicks are designed to last indefinitely and do not require trimming like cotton wicks. If the tip becomes charred, you can lightly brush away the carbon buildup once the candle is cool.
I lost or damaged my wick, funnel and/or brass wick holder.
Accidents happen! We offer replacement kits on our shop page that include everything you need to get your rock candle back in working order, including wicks, funnels, and holders.
I can’t get my Rock Candle to light or stay lit.
Ensure your oil reservoir is filled and that the wick has had enough time to saturate. If the wick is too short or if you are using low-quality or old fuel, the flame may not stay lit. Also, check for drafts that might be blowing the flame out.
My Rock Candle is getting blackened around the flame.
Black soot is typically caused by the wick being too high or poor-quality fuel. Lower your wick and ensure you are using a clean-burning paraffin oil. Clean any existing soot from the stone with a damp cloth once it is completely cool.
Always practice fire safety when using your rock candle.
Do not leave burning unattended and always follow instructions.
